After leaving Côte d'Ivoire at the age of 11, KT Gorique was removed from her roots and much of her family for 16 years. Music has always been her escape and means of expression. Reggae and African music were sources of inspiration and influenced her rap but the blend was not yet fully formed. This is what she calls the Future Roots today. The choice of instruments is simultaneously typical of reggae and trap combined with balafon kalimbas and other traditional instruments offers something unique in terms of soundscapes, all on incisive and striking punchlines.
