Born in Tehran, Sevdaliza fled her native country in the 90s and took refuge with her family in Rotterdam, where she embarked on a professional basketball career a few years later, before drastically changing course and launching into music. Starting with trip-hop and inspired by Björk or FKA Twigs, the Iranian-Dutch singer has digested the various influences on her to create a relish that is all her own. Her deep, languid voice sweeps over various kinds of instrumentals, progressing from Cyberpunk to Trap and sometimes even using Auto-Tune. She returns with a brand new EP, “Raving Dahlia”, comprised of songs against a background of synthesisers and psycho-rock elements – a genre where the singer had never ventured before.
