Carpenter Brut

Between techno and metal, the furious electro of Carpenter Brut arrives at Dour on July 18!

French musician and producer Carpenter Brut made a name for himself in 2012 with his trilogy of EPs (grouped together in 2015 under the name “Trilogy”), fusing retro 80s sounds with electro and metal influences. Immersed in the pop culture, horror and sci-fi films of the ’80s, Carpenter Brut develops a sound that is at once dark, intense and cinematic. With “Trilogy”, his now cult album, he quickly made a name for himself on the international scene, becoming an emblematic figure of the synthwave movement.

In 2018, the artist pushed his universe even further with “Leather Teeth”, a concept album telling the fictional story of Bret Halford, a teenager turned rock star following a tragic accident. This project marks a turning point, with a distinctive visual and narrative universe that is reflected in his live performances, where sonic intensity meets striking, immersive visuals. In 2022, Carpenter Brut continues Bret’s story with “Leather Terror”, a darker, more violent album that plunges even deeper into industrial metal sounds. Notable collaborations with metal figures such as Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan), Ben Koller (Converge) and Johannes Andersson (Tribulation) enrich this raw, powerful universe.
On stage, Carpenter Brut’s performances are a truly immersive experience, where aggressive electronic music mingles with horror-movie-inspired visuals, immersing the audience in a retro-futuristic atmosphere that leaves no one indifferent. There’s no doubt that Dour Festival audiences will be transported into their own unique cinematic and sonic universe on July 18!
