A strong ecological awareness and the will to promote local artists
Dour Festival was born out of the initiative of a small group of young people from Dour, who mobilized in 1988 to save Le Terril de la Machine à Feu and to protect its natural environment. The following year, the Dour Festival was born at the foot of that same slag heap.
This ecological awareness is stimulated through local and European projects related to sustainable development in the events sector.
From the very beginning, the organisers include all elements of the Dour entity and emphasize Belgian bands and local artists. Year after year, these will find a place on our stage.
Dour Festival stands for values such as sharing, tolerance and respect for diversity, which are largely reflected in our musical programming.
The numerous players, whether music professionals, organisers or volunteers, illustrate the rich diversity of the team that makes up the festival.
In this way, 30 years later, we want you to (re)discover the values and actions we realize today through our new natural site, in the heart of a wind turbine park.
And because we are convinced that it is important for everyone to do their part to reduce their ecological footprint, we are counting on you to be a sustainable festivalgoer and to help us in the efforts we have been making since 1989.
