Squarepusher, Rone, Nubya Garcia, Dj Koze and 20 more new names!
Fans of musical discoveries, regardless of style, take note! Dour Festival announces a flood of indie names and continues to explore alternative routes, each more exciting than the last. At the Dour Festival, the prescription is as follows: dozens of encounters and musical discoveries per day to meet the body’s needs and boost the spirits of festival-goers.
2020 marks the return of Squarepusher, the IDM and drill and bass maestro with his new album “Be Up a Hello”, which he plans to introduce this summer at the Dour Festival. Rone, the musical poet whose work adds more sweetness and dreaminess to our lives and whose new album is eagerly awaited, also confirms his presence, along with the Brazilian producer Amon Tobin Presents Two Fingers, who also made his comeback last year with two new albums of versatile electronica and ambient sounds.
Straight from Great Britain, they’re here in force, and they’re ready to make you dance until daybreak. The blend of contemporary funk, disco, soul and electronic music of Franc Moody will combine with dynamic techno tinged with hardcore, jungle and house sounds from Mella Dee, and with the influence of the young producer Ross From Friends, oscillating between hip-hop, 80’s Eurobeat and Hi-NRG. Saxophonist and composer Nubya Garcia, whose reputation as a DJ is booming, will also be there, as will the London psychedelic jazz trio The Comet is Coming and the multi-instrumentalist Kamaal Williams, the artist behind a breakout album in 2018. And let’s not forget one of the most consistent, talented and versatile producers on the European scene, Eclair Fifi, who comes all the way from Edinburgh.
Germany, long renowned as the temple of European techno, will be well represented this summer at the Dour Festival with performances pitched between the acid and industrial electronica of the duo FJAAK, the house and groovy DJ sets of the magician Palms Trax and those of Danilo Plessow aka Motor City Drum Ensemble. The Berlin-based Dixon, also known for his appearances in video games, will complete this beautiful line-up, alongside Gerd Janson, the boss of the label Running Back and DJ Koze with his bewitching melodies, at the crossroads between micro, techno and minimal.
The crème de la crème of the Netherlands will be represented by Altın Gün and their tasty mix of psychedelic rock and traditional Turkish music and by Afro-Caribbean rhythms tinged with cumbia and psychedelic music from The Mauskovic Dance Band. Finally, Meetsysteem will take festival-goers on an extraordinarily rich musical journey with his productions mixing rap, house and instrumental touches, all sung in Dutch.
The prodigy of French house, Folamour, also joins the line-up of the Dour Festival and plans a set of disco, house, funk and dance music which already forecasts the weather for next summer: sunshine guaranteed!
Influences from across the Atlantic are on the bill with confirmations by Californian Oliver Tree, the multi-talented composer will make the trip and join this delightful program, also punctuated by the return of the legendary trio, Inner City, for a flamboyant new show. The jazzy and groovy pop of Les Louanges will also be part of the journey, as will the producer and DJ, Jayda G, and her brand of funk, house and jazz signed to the unmissable Ninja Tune label.
