A CLEAN, WELL-ORGANISED AND RELAXED FESTIVAL FOR LOVERS OF MUSIC
The 22nd Dour Festival confirmed the well-known reputation of the festival: the site was particularly clean, the atmosphere was particularly laid-back and cool and this was remarked upon by many. The crowd was as varied as the colours of the bikinis donned by all, especially on the sunny Sunday, and they all were able to make the most of the 200 concerts on the immense festval site. Most notable was the extraordinary energy and motivation of the festival-goers, ready to dance from 2pm onwards. The Belgian groups showed their muscle and cut no small figure next to the big names at the festival. The revellers will be going home with many a good memory and new discoveries in their rucksacks.
A CROWD OF MORE THAN 125,000 WERE AT THE 22nd DOUR FESTIVAL!
For the 22nd festival, Dour Festival continued to make its mark as the premier music event in French-speaking Belgium with more than 125,000 festival-goers over the 4 days. The setting up and organisation of the site were ideal! The public were received in the best possible conditions, which contributed to a relaxed atmosphere. The new bar in the woods, open to the public in the day and set aside for professionals in the evening, was a great success. The calm and relaxed area, with an inventive, tree-top, canvas decoration, was perfect to sit back and relax in, to listen to the reggae coming from the Reggaravan and to have a drink in one of the new reusable cups - the bar in the woods was the perfect place to try out this new ecological initiative.
Dour Festival, once again, attracted the crowds with 31,000 tickets sold for the Thursday, 30,000 for the Friday, 32,000 for the Saturday and 32,000 on the Sunday. The site, now slightly larger, can accomodate up to 40,000 revellers. Around 15,000 festival-goers came over on Wednesday night to set up their tents on the campsite, undeterred by the thunderstorm in the afternoon, which didn't affect the festival grounds themselves, and even made the ground softer for the tent pegs! The new BBQ areas installed in the campsite were leapt upon with relish by the campers. And for those who remain attached to home comforts throughout the festival period, (punks don't always stay punks forever), the number of Festihuts doubled and all of the 800 beds on offer were taken.
FOR ONE WEEKEND, DOUR BECOMES THE MUSIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!
The festival-goers arrived from all over Europe to listen to the 200 groups at the festival.
In terms of media coverage, over 1000 journalists were successfully accredited. We welcomed professionals from Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Sweden, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, USA and even Malaysia!
