JOE YORKE, MACKA B, MUNGO’S HI FI… THE DUB CORNER LINE-UP.

Joe Yorke, Macka B, Mungo’s Hi Fi, Solo Banton, Blackboard Jungle, Yung Kucha, Dub Shepherds, Queen Omga, Atili… after unveiling the line-up of its six biggest stages, Dour Festival has now announced the artists who will perform at Dub Corner from 17 to 21 July.

Through the Dub Corner stage, Dour Festival offers a space of communion between artists who play on the ground and an audience who come to celebrate the culture of roots and enjoy one of the best European dub sound systems.

The sound system as a political medium.

Considered eminently political, soundsystem culture will come to life at Dour Festival through the Blackboard Jungle. installation. The iconic French sound system from Rouen is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and will lay out its walls of sound, its analogue preamps and its handcrafted machines, making its precise, hot sound available to artists such as the immense Jah Tubbys alongside Macky Banton and Professa Natti or Queen Omega who will give an exclusive performance.

Positioned on the ground, facing the artists and encompassing the entire audience, the Blackboard Jungle soundsystem will offer a unique proximity to the festival goers. And this is how Dub Corner will take on its full social and human dimension.

Legends and new wave

Following on from legends like Jah Tubbys or Macka Bthe Dub Corner sound system will see a succession of stars including the Scots of Mungo’s Hi Fi with Aziza Jaye & Solo Bantonthe soulful and angelic voice of Joe Yorkethe vapor dub ofAtili or the feminist “Sistren of the Control” project by Sista Fabienne.

In the beginning there was Dub Corner.

Diving into the heart of contemporary dub culture, embracing the original roots of reggae as well as digital sounds, rub a dub and dancehall, Dub Corner embodies a haven of peace where time stands still. From the energy of dubstep to the frantic rhythm of grime, from the power of drum and bass to the incisive prose of rap, the dub scene has been the cradle of many musical evolutions that have laid the foundations of Dour Festival’s identity.

By crossing the threshold of the Dub Corner, not only do we immerse ourselves in a living page of musical history, we also open ourselves up to a unique Roots & Culture experience and a space where a warm, round and organic sound resonates, carrying us away collectively.
